November To Remember

The Flin Flon Bombers wrapped up their four game in five night road trip with a 4 to 2 win in Weyburn last night to take all 4 games out scoring their opponents 19 to 9.

 

Cole Rafuse who picked up a hat trick the night before in Estevan led the way with two points including his team leading 23rd goal of the season.

 

Dane Hirst also chipped in with his first two goals as a Bomber and Donavan Houle who was back in the line up colllected his 21st of the year.

 

Jacob Delorme picked up his 12th win of the season and was rock solid, making 19 saves on 21 shots including 9 in the third period.

 

Flin Flon is on a roll going 8 and 2 in November and sit first in the Sherwood Division at : 20-6-3, good enough for a 6 point lead on second place Melfort. The Mustangs do have a game in hand.

 

The Bombers are also second overall, trailing the first place Battleford Stars by 9 points. Both teams have played 29 times and will meet for a pair of games at the Civic Centre in the middle of December.

 

Cole Rafuse was the hottest Bomber in November racking up 22 points including 11 goals and was named the Paper Works Plus Player of the month.

 

He was also selected the SJHL Player Of The Week, 14 days ago and may get some consideration again this week after finishing the road trip with 10 points including 4 goals.

 

Rafuse and Alec Malo are now tied for second overall in the SJHL scoring race with 50 points in 29 games.

 

Yorkton's Chance Petruic continues to lead the way with 61 points in 31 games.

 

The Bombers enter December with some big games on the way including a trip to the Mel Hegland Uniplex in Laronge this Friday.

 

This will be the first meeting between the two teams since opening weekend and no doubt this is the best Ice Wolf  team in many years. Laronge is right in the thick of things in the Sherwood Division at 15-14-2-1.

 

They trail second place Melfort by just 4 points.

 

Flin Flon will also play another big division game against Nipawin who will be in town Saturday.

 

The Bombers have won both meetings so far this year including a come from behind 4 to 3 win at the Cage a couple weeks ago.

 

After a little break, we will broadcast both games this weekend on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com including Friday's game from Laronge with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10.
