The Melfort Mustangs, on a strong goaltending performance from Shawn Parkinson downed the Flin Flon Bombers 3 to 1 on Saturday night.
Parkinson was definitely the difference in the game stopping 32 out of 33 Bomber shots.
Jacob Delorme also played well stopping 36 out of 38, with one of the Melfort goals in to the empty net.
Melfort came out and played a very good first period, and held the Bombers to only 7 shots with very few good scoring opportunities.
They also scored the only goal when Schell re-directed a point shot past Delorme on the power play to put the Mustangs up 1 to 0 after one.
That stood up til the 6:15 mark of the third period when Mr. Hustle, Caleb Frankilin jumped on a Dane Hirst re-bound to tie the game early in the third.
This was Melfort's night, as Lopez was left alone in front of the Bomber net to score the eventual game winner mid way through the final frame.
Ryley Lanthier, would seal it with an empty netter and less than two minutes on the clock.
With the Melfort win, the Bombers and Mustangs are once again tied a top the Sherwood Division with 35 points. Flin Flon does have a game in hand.
The Bombers have had a tough time with the Stangs this season and saw their record fall to 0-2-1 in the three meetings.
The Maroon and White pulled out a nice come from behind win in Nipawin on Friday.
Trailing 3 to 0, the Bombers reeled off four straight goals to stun the Hawks 4 to 3.
Reid Robertson had a 3 point night and was the game's first star. Mason Martin scored the winner with the other goals coming from Trystan Lemyre and Billy Klymchuk.
Kyle Jessiman picked up the victory with 22 saves on 25 shots.
Despite Saturday's loss, the Bombers are playing good hockey and are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games.
Flin Flon will hit the road for 4 games in 5 nights starting tomorrow in Melville, before hitting Notre Dame, Estevan and Weyburn.
We will not be broadcasting these games and won't be back on the air until December the 6th in Laronge.
