After splitting a pair of games with Yorkton on the weekend, the Flin Flon Bombers will continue their home stand tonight against the Humboldt Broncos.

 

These two teams know each other very well with this being the fifth meeting of the season.

 

The season series is even at two wins a piece with Flin Flon winning the last match up in Humboldt 5 to 2 back on October the 24th.

 

Flin Flon continues to battle for top spot in the Sherwood Division with the Melfort Mustangs who are two points ahead of the Bombers with Flin Flon having two games in hand.

 

The Maroon and White will make up one of those games tonight.

 

As of today the Bomber record stands at 13-5-3 and have 29 points which is third overall , tied with the surging Yorkton Terriers.

 

Humboldt is 12-8-2-1 and are just two points behind the Bombers and are one of the biggest surprises in the league this season.

 

The Bronco's are the youngest team in the league and have only three 20 year olds including captain Graysen Cameron, Logan Foster and Bryson Cecconi.

 

Head Coach and GM , Scott Barney who took over mid way through last season has done a tremendous job with this group and they are never an easy 2 points for anybody.

 

A lot of people thought they might be a couple of years away but they have proven that they are a team to contend with now.

 

Both these two clubs match up well and play very similar styles that includes quick skating and aggressive fore checking.

 

Their numbers are fairly close too with the Bombers scoring 89 times in 21 games compared to the Bronco's 78 in 23 games.

 

Flin Flon has also given up 69 goals against compared to 77 for Humboldt.

 

I always enjoy watching these two teams go at each other and this has been a very good rivalry for the last several seasons.

 

The games this season remind me of all the epic playoff battles back in the mid 2000's.

 

We will not have the broadcast tonight and don't return to the air waves until next Friday when Flin Flon will invade the Cage in Nipawin.
