Bombers Ready For Terriers

After a 7 day break the Flin Flon Bombers are back in action this weekend against the Yorkton Terriers at the Whitney Forum.

The Bombers sit second in the Sherwood Division at 12-4-3 and remain two points behind the division leading Melfort Mustangs with two games in hand.

Flin Flon continues to score a lot of goals with 82 in 19 games and are second only to the Battleford Stars in offense who lead the league with 95 in 21 games.

The top line of Alec Malo, Cole Rafuse and Donavan Houle have cooled off a little of late but the team is getting secondary offense from the Haygarth brothers.

In the last 7 games the brothers have combined for 23 points and are scoring a lot of big goals.

Flin Flon has also bolstered the blue line with the acquisition of Troy Quinn from the Merritt Centennials of the BCHL. Quinn had 6 points in 18 games this year and was a member of the MJHL'S Swan Valley Stampeders who went to the league final this past spring.

Quinn will be in the Bomber line up this weekend.

Yorkton comes to town the class of the Viterra Division at 11-9-1 and lead the Weyburn Red Wings by 6 points and are the only team in the division with a record over .500.

Their leading scorer Chantz Petruic is starting to pull away in the overalll scoring race lead with 43 points in 21 games.

Petruic is also the SJHL Player Of The Month for both September and October and just picked up the SJHL Player Of The Week.

The Bombers will have to try and find a way to shut him down this weekend.

Yorkton also bolstered their goaltending by getting Ryan Oullette back from the WHL and he  was between the pipes for their win in Nipawin on Tuesday night making 45 saves on 48 shots.

Good news on the injury front as the Bombers will welcome back forwards Tristan Lemyre and Matt Flodell who both make their return to the line up tonight. Defenseman Jack Michell,  who hasn't played a regular season game yet still looks to be a few weeks away.

Don't forget that tonight is Minor Hockey Appreciation Night and all minor hockey players are encouraged to bring their skates and equipment to the rink to skate with the Bombers after the game.

No broadcast tonight but we are back on the air tomorrow with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10 with drop of the puck at 7:30.
