Bombers Sweep The Mills

The Flin Flon Bombers put together two very impressive efforts and out scored the Melville Millionaires 11 to 3 to take both games this past weekend at the Whitney Forum.

Cole Rafuse led the way on Friday with the hat-trick as the Bombers rolled to the 6 to 2 win. Jacob Delorme only had to make 14 saves to pick up his 5th win of the season. Delorme has only lost one game in regulation in his eight starts this year.

Saturday the Mills did come out with a little better effort, but couldn't get any offense going and Flin Flon won decisively 5 to 1.

Alec Malo and Easton Haygarth put the Bombers up 2 to 0 after one. In the second period Mason Kaspick and Adam Victorino both scored their first ever SJHL goals with Haygarth adding his second of the night.

Easton Haygarth wound up with four points and was chosen the KFC first star of the night on the CFAR Post Game Show.

The lone Melville goal came from Aidan Steinke in the third period with the game out of reach.

Matt Sankner was almost pefect giving up one goal on 24 shots and improved to 2-1-0-1 on the year and has a very impressive save % of .935

After the weekend the Bombers improve to 9-3-2 and are second in the Sherwood Division and are third overall.

It was parents weekend and there were two impressive crowds both nights as the Bombers continue to show they will be a club to contend with once again this season.

They will get a good test as they hit the road for three games this weekend starting with Humboldt on Thursday and Kindersley Friday and Saturday.

Humboldt has beat the Bombers twice this year and Kindersley is starting to hit their stride with three straight wins.

All three games will be broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com with the Great North GM Coach's Show kicking things off at 8:10 MB time.
