Bombers Ready For Hawks

In what has to be described as a topsy turby season so far for the Maroon and White, the Flin Flon Bombers return to action tomorrow against the Nipawin Hawks.

Flin Flon sits at 4-2 but have given up 21 goals in their last 3 games including a 10 spot against the defending champion Battleford Stars at the Showcase on Wednesday.

It looked like the Bombers were ready to right the ship with an impressive 7-2 win over Weyburn Tuesday after giving up 9 to Humboldt on Saturday.

So far this season you don't know what your going to get from night to night.

Nipawin looks very strong and are one of two undefeated teams at 6-0 and have given up a staggering 7 goals against in 6 games. The Hawks 22 goals for is decent, but let's face it they are a defensive team and will win a lot of games scoring 2 to 3 goals.

Flin Flon has given up 27 goals against and only Yorkton has surrendered more so far this young season. They do have a very young and inexperienced blue line that need to find a way to tighten up and get some confidence.

Bomber fans will have to be patient and as the old saying go's, Rome wasn't built in one night and the only way to get better is to actually play and learn from your mistakes.

It will be interesting to see what direction Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan will take. Will he be patient and let this group slowly settle in? Or will he make a move to shake things up.

I am thinking these next three home games will tell a lot against Nipawin tomorrow and Kindersley next weekend.

The top line od Donavan Houle, Alec Malo and Cole Rafuse continue to bolster the offense. Houle and Malo are lighting it up with 14 points a piece to lead the league in scoring.

The goaltending tandem of veteran Jacob Delorme and JP Mella will need some support as both have been hung out to dry, way to many times in the last few games.

Don't forget to join us for all the action tomorrow night on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10 and drop of the puck at 7:30.
