Cumberland Beats Creighton

The top two teams in the Northern Saskatchewan Football league collided yesterday afternoon in Cumberland House with the Islanders winning a thriller 34-28 over the Creighton Kodiaks.

The game came down to the very last possession but the Kodiaks couldn't punch the ball into the end zone to try and steal the game.

The Kodiaks also got into penalty trouble late which didn't help the come back bid.

Blake Alexander had another good afternoon running in for two touch downs with the other majors coming from Brady Carmichael and Myles Patterson.

Creighton will fall to 2-1 on the year and will wrap up the regular season next Wednesday at home against Pinehouse with the opening kick off at 4.

Cumberland, the defending champs go to 3-0 and lock up first place in the division and will now  host a first round playoff game.

The Kodiaks also qualify for the playoffs but will most likely start on the road.
