The 0-5 pre season didn't seem to matter as the Flin Flon Bombers came out of the gate and dominated the Laronge Ice Wolves, sweeping the home and home on opening weekend.

 

Laronge had no answer for third year forward Donavan Houle who scored 4 times and added an assist in a 5-2 win at the Whitney Forum on Friday.

 

This was Houle's first ever 4 goal game in the SJHL.

 

Tristan Lemyre scored the other Bomber goal in his SJHL debut.

 

Flin Flon spotted the Wolves the first goal Saturday, but responded with 4 unanswered to take Saturday's contest in Laronge 4-1.

 

After Kyle Ford scored a nice short handed goal for the Wolves, Donavan Houle tied the game on a partial break away putting a nice back hander top corner on Steven Bacovsky.

 

With the game tied at 1 in the third, Cole Rafuse took over scoring his first two goals in a Bomber uniform including the game winner just 1:44 into the third period.

 

Rafuse's line mate,  Alec Malo added an insurance goal with just over 6 minutes remaining to put the icing on the cake with a nice power play goal.

 

The Bombers out scored the Ice Wolves 9-3 in the two games and with out the solid goal tending of new comers Steven Bacovsky and Ryan Baker, the scores could of been worse.

 

Jacob Delorme was superb in both Bomber victories and made some nice acrobatic saves in both games. Delorme stopped 66 out of 69 Laronge shots including 39 out of 40 on Saturday.

 

The Bomber specialty teams were also very good , with the pp going 4 for 10 and Flin Flon  killed off all 9 Laronge power plays.

 

The Maroon and White looked very good and played two complete games and will actually get a little rest before preparing for the Humboldt Broncos,  who come to town for a pair of games this weekend.

 

Humboldt dropped both games to Notre Dame on the weekend.

 

Flin Flon continues to trim the roster sending forward Zach Purcell to Steinbach of the MJHL for a PDF, and have also moved Crystopher Collin to the Edmundston Blizzard of the MHL for futures and a PDF.
