Brandson Hein continued his October to remember as the Flin Flon Bombers rolled over the Weyburn Red Wings 7-4 on Friday night.
Hein potted his second hat trick of the season, scoring his 19th,20th and 21st of the year and continues to lead the league in most offensive categories including goals.
Vincent Nardone added a pair, his 9th and 10th with singles coming from Collin(7) and Hooper (7).
Weyburn goal scorers were: Plett a pair for his first and second, Kowalski(8) and Schwean(1).
The Bomber powerplay was on fire going 4 for 8 and have the fourth best powerplay in the league at 22.9 %.
Weyburn had a good night with the extra attacker going 2 for 5.
Pierce Diamond was back between the pipes for the first time in two weeks and he played very well stopping 31 out of 35 shots. Diamond has found a groove and has picked up 8 out of the 11 Bomber victories this season.
Flin Flon was able to get to Riley Lamb and forced him from the game in the second period when he gave up 5 goals on 20 shots. In Lamb's defense, I thought Weyburn played pretty bad defensively and coughed up the puck in their own ende several times.
Cody Levesque came in relief and played reasonably well stopping 18 out of 20.
The Bombers improve to 11-5-0-2 and are tied with Nipawin for first place in the Sherwood Division with 24 points. That is also good for second overall, 1 point behind Kindersley.
Weyburn is in a funk dropping to 5-10-2 and are winless in their last 10 games.
Flin Flon will enjoy 5 days off before travelling to Melfort this Thursday. This will be the first meeting of the season between these two Sherwood Division rivals who are expected to be the top two clubs in the division this year.
Melfort is 10-5-1 and are 6-1 at the Northern Lights Palace. 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will broadcast this game with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 8:15 MB time.
