Bombers Hit Kindersley

The Flin Flon Bombers will play their final two games before the Christmas break when they hit the West Central Events Centre in Kindersley tonight and tomorrow.

To say the Bombers are reeling would be an under statement. Not only have the Maroon and White dropped both games on this current road trip being out scored 10-3 in the two games, but they have lost 17 of their last 22.

If Flin Flon is going to get in the mix for a playoff position, they will have to find some answers on the road as they continue to struggle with just 1 win in 13 games.

Goals have been a problem lately for this young group as they have only scored 88 in 30 games which has them ranked 8th overall, but it is their play in the last 10 games that is concerning.

The Bomber record is 2-8 and they have been out scored 55-23. Hopefully their day off in Saskatoon will help them re-charge their batteries and they can put together a couple of solid games.

Acting Head Coach Gary Childerhose says mental mistakes are killing them right now and any time they make a mistake it winds up in the back of their net.

Some good news for the Bombers as starting goaltender Brenden Newton is back between the pipes and has played well despite two losses to Laronge 5-2 and Battleford 5-1 on Friday and Saturday.

Kindersley have put together a pretty decent season at 13-13-2-2 and are one of those teams that nobody is talking about. They have knocked off all the top clubs this year and their starting goalie Justen Close is one of the best in the league.

Flin Flon will have to play a full 60 with little or no mistakes to beat them.

Congratulations to Bomber Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan who coached Canada West to a Gold medal at the World JR A Challenge in Truro Nova Scotia on Saturday with a 5-1 win over the United States. Flin Flon's Crystopher Collin and Battleford's Levi Kleiboer also represented the SJHL.

I caught up with Mike yesterday afternoon and you can hear that interview both today and tomorrow on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com starting at 3:30.
