The Norman Northstars almost completed the comeback and fell one goal short in their home opener on Friday night.
The Northstars hosted the Parkland Rangers in a pair of games in Thompson and lost their first home game 6-5 on Friday night.
Parkland bulit up a couple of 2 goal leads early going up 3-1 before Norman tied it in the second period. Parkland also led 6-3 in the third before the Northstars made it 6-5 with just over 12 minutes to go, but could not get the equalizer.
The Rangers kept the momentum going on Saturday and took the second game 5-2.
It was a good weekend for many players from Flin Flon including Frederick Ledoux who scored the Northstars first home goal of the season.
Mitchell Reid added 4 points including 3 goals over the weekend with Jordan Phoh collecting 1 goal and 2 assists.
The Northstars fall to 0-5 on the season and will continue their home stand against Yellowhead this weekend. The Chiefs are 2-3 on the year.
