Kindersley Comes To Town

The Bombers are back on the ice tonight after a 5 day break and  welcome the Kindersley Klippers to town for a pair of games this weekend.

This will be their first meeting of the season and the Klippers already have two wins under their belt on this road trip after beating Laronge 5-2 on Tuesday and 3-2 Wednesday.

Flin Flon is fresh off a weekend sweep of Melville including a convincing 7-0 win on Saturday.

Both teams have similar records with Kindersley sitting third in the Olympic Buildings Division at 4-3-1 , just 2 points behind front running Battleford. The Bombers are second in the Sherwood  at 4-1-0-2 and are 6 points behind Melfort who are a perect 8-0 to start the year.

Both these teams are relatively young with the Bombers sporting seven 20 year olds, while the Klippers have eight.

Offensively they match up very well with the Bombers scoring 26 goals in 7 games while Kindersley has scored 25 in 8. The big difference is goals against. Flin Flon has given up 15 goals in 7 games which is third best in the league compared to the Klippers 28  in 8 games.

One of the big reasons for the Bombers defensive success is 20 year old netminder Brenden Newton. Newton has played every minute of every game and is the reigning SJHL Goalie Of The Week with a league best GAA of 1.69 and a .944 save percentage.

This is a crucial two game home stand as the Bombers will hit the road for 4 games in 5 nights starting Tuesday in Humboldt.

No broadcast tonight but we will be back on the air tomorrow (Saturday) with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:15 and drop of the puck at 7:30.
