After a tough 4-1 loss at the Cage on Wednesday , the Flin Flon Bombers are now one strike away from being eliminated in their best of 7 SJHL Semi- Final against the Nipawin Hawks.
Nipawin make their way to the Whitney Forum tonight up 3 games to 1 and all the momentum as they used a strong first period in game 4 to take a strangle hold in the series.
The Hawks scored all 4 goals in the first period and chased Zac Robidoux in the process as the Bomber netminder was hung out to dry many times.
Medicine Hat's Brenden Newton took over late in the first and played quite well stopping all 22 shots he faced, but the damage was done. It will be interesting to see who Mike Reagan starts in goal tonight.
You take away the first 12 minutes from Wednesday night and I think the Bombers played pretty well but are struggling to score goals. Only 5 players have found the back of the net in this series with Sinclair and Reitmeier leading the way with a pair . St.Onge, Hooper and Sobkowicz have also scored.
Flin Flon needs a lot better start and stop spotting the Hawks big leads. Nipawin has scored the first goal in all 4 games and were up 3-0 in game 2 and 4-0 in game 4. The way that Stead is playing right now has been more than enough offense and the Hawks have been able to sit back and trap.
The Bombers were one of the best teams at home all season and like their chances at the Whitney Forum tonight and are hoping for a big Flin Flon welcome for game 5.
I expect the Maroon and White express to come out flying and I am going to predict that this will be their best effort of the series.
Flin Flon could be down a couple of bodies as Corey Thomas received a match penalty at the end of game 4 and could receive as much as a 3 game suspension. Mike Reagan said they would send in the video and appeal, so we will find out the verdict tonight.
Brandon Masson also left the game with an upper body injury and his staus is unknown.
