Double Header Weekend

The Flin Flon Bombers have 5 games remaining in the regular season as they try to clinch first place in the Sherwood Division and second overall.

A couple of desperate teams make their way to the Whitney Forum this weekend including Humboldt tonight and Melfort tomorrow.

Humboldt was one of the hottest teams in the league til mid November before they got dessimated with injuries,  and are desperately trying to hold on to 5th overall and avoid the Survivor Series.

The Broncos have 56 points and are just 1 point up on both Notre Dame and Yorkton who are both playing better hockey lately. Humboldt have 5 games remaining while the Hounds have 6 and the Terriers just 3.

Flin Flon lead the season series against the Broncos 2 games to 1 including a win at the Whitney Forum in their last meeting 4-1 November the 25th. This could be a possible playoff meeting if the Hawks finsh first in the Sherwood and the Broncos hold on to 5th.

Despite the Bronco struggles Chris VanOs- Shaw remains one of the best offensive players in the league and is 6th in points with 63 and second in goals with 34. He is the only Bronco in the top 20 in scoring while Flin Flon has 5 players including Reitmeier (67), Lavallee(57), Zimmer(53), Shumlanski(51) and Sinclair(48).

Melfort the defending back to back Canalta Cup Champions are on the verge of maybe not even making the playoffs. After a decent start this year the Mustangs are really struggling and have only 1 win in their last 10 games.

The Mustangs have 46 points and hold on to the last playoff spot , 4 up on Melville. Melfort have 5 games left while the Mills have 6.

Flin Flon and Nipawin both have 75 points and both have 5 games left. The Bombers own the tie breaker as they have beat the Hawks 6 out of the 7 meetings this season.

There should be a great playoff atmosphere in the building this weekend with all 3 teams having a lot to play for.

To put a little more icing on the cake, Flin Flon Bomber and Philadelphia Flyer icon Bobby Clarke will be at the game tonight as TSN is putting together a nice feature on Clarke and Flin Flon.

No broadcast of tonight's game but 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will have tomorrow night's game against the Mustangs including the Murray GM Coach's Show at 7:15 and drop of the puck at 7:30.
