Bombers Grab 3 Out Of 4 Points

The Flin Flon Bombers snapped a 6 game winless streak with a 6-3 come from behind win over the Kindersley Klippers at the Whitney Forum on Friday night.

Trailing 3-1 in the second period the Bombers erupted for 5 goals enroute to their 7th win of the season.

The guys that the Bombers count on to score got the job done as Reitmeier led the way with a pair, with other goals coming from Zimmer, Lesko, Lanferman and Lavallee.

This was the Bombers  biggest offensive outburst of the season and was almost as many goals as they scored on their most recent southern road trip.

Final shots were 52-27 in favour of the Bombers with Flin Flon going 2 for 6 on the powerplay and Kindersley finished 1 for 5.

Flin Flon would try to take the momentum into Saturday but goals were a little more tough to come by.

Kindersley built up a quick 2-0 lead on goals from Bly and Young before the Bombers responded with a goal from Shumlanski early in the second period.

A late goal from Picket preserved the 2 goal lead for the Klippers after 2. Down 3-1 the Bombers scored a huge short handed goal just 1:03 into the third.

Recently acquired Eric Sinclair led a rush down the ice, broke in on goal and got a shot away on Klipper goaltender Justen Close. Close stopped Sinclair, bit Shumlanski picked up the rebound and fired it right into the middle of the net for his second of the game and 6th of the season.

The Bombers kept pressing and tied the game on a powerplay goal from Joseph Leonidas just 3 minutes later.

The score held up for the rest of the third period and went to OT.

Flin Flon had several great chances to end it but it was Kindersley's night. Binfet took a drop pass from Funk and beat a screened Brenden Newton 2:29 into the extra period to give the Klippers the 4-3 OT win.

Kindersley snapped a 4 game winless streak despite being outshot 60-34. After the weekend the Bombers are: 7-6-2-1 and have dropped to second in the Sherwood, 1 point behind Nipawin.

The Hawks are red hot winning 8 out of their last 10 games.

It was parents weekend and the Bombers held a nice ceremony to recognise the parent's and billet families before Saturday's game.

Next up for the Bombers will be a pair of games against Weyburn and Estevan this weekend at the Whitney Forum. 102.9 CFAR will have the Estevan broadcast on Saturday.
