For the first time in 3 seasons the Creighton Kodiaks 6 man football has lost a game in the Northern Saskatchewan Football league.
After going undefeated the last 2 seasons and picking up 2 straight Ralph Pilz Trophys, the Kodiaks got beat by Sandy Bay today 39-22.
This was the first game of the season for the Kodiaks and second for Sandy Bay who lost 56-24 to Churchill out of Laronge last week.
Creighton has had a huge turn over in players this year and have pretty much had to revamp their entire offense including a new offensive line, quarterback and running back.
The Kodiaks started well building up a 12-0 lead but after a few turn overs Sandy Bay was able to take over.
New quarterback Baily Eastman had a strong game running for a pair of touchdowns and throwing a 50 yard strike to Linden Moore. The other Kodiak points came off a safety.
Head Coach Ryan Karakochuk had this to say after the game. "We played hard, we just killed ourselves giving up the big pass, and on offense we had a few key turnovers at bad times. We did gain a lot of valuable experience and hope to get better for a tough matchup against a good Cumberland House team."
The Kodiaks will host Cumberland House at a revamped Creighton field next Thursday September the 22nd with kickoff at 4.
