Zac Robidoux guided the Flin Flon Bombers to their second straight shut out victory over the Laronge Ice Wolves on Tuesday night 3-0.
Robidoux blocked 25 shots for back to back shut outs for the second time this season and has over taken Taryn Kotchorek of the Battleford Stars for the league lead with 5.
Robidoux also made Bomber history as he has tied Danny Dennis's record of shut outs in a single season for a Bomber goalie with 5. Dennis achieved this in the 92-93 season.
Who knows with 5 games left, including 2 more against Laronge maybe Zac will be able to break it.
Mason Etter's 5th of the season stood up as last night's game winner , when he collected a nice pass from Reitmeier and buried a hard wrist shot low glove side on Kris Joyce late in the first period.
Flin Flon got insurance goals from the Bomber captain Tyson Empey(14) and Alex Smith who picked up goal no.31.
The Bombers have beaten the Ice Wolves 5 out of 6 games this season and have taken 14 out of the last 16 meetings at the Whitney Forum.
This is a huge win for the Bombers who improve their record to: 32-17-0-4 and have closed the gap on Nipawin too 1 point for second in the Sherwood and fourth overall. Both teams have played 53 games. This win will also give the Bombers a little more breathing room on Estevan for 5th. Flin Flon is 7 points up with 5 games to go, the Bruins have 6 games remaining.
A big challenge is coming the Bombers way this weekend as they will travel to Battleford to take on the power house North Stars.
North Battleford is first overall with 80 points and have had the Finning Division title wrapped up for more than a month. They have a 29 point lead on Kindersley who are second in the Division.
Flin Flon has played the Stars very well taking all 4 games this season including all 3 at the Whitney Forum and the first matchup in Battleford 4-2 back on December the 19th.
