Bombers Tangle With The Broncos

The Flin Flon Bombers will step back on the ice tonight after a 5 day break to face the Humboldt Broncos.

To say the Bronco's are a desperate team would be an under statement, as they trail the Yorkton Terriers by 7 points for the final overall playoff spot.

Both teams have 12 games remaining on the season, and you would have to think that Humboldt would have to win at least 8 of their final 12 and get some help. Both teams have tough schedules and Melville is also in the mix.

Yorkton is the only team out of the 3 over .500 in their last 10.

As for the Bombers they have dropped 2 out of their last 3, both 4-3 set backs to the Weyburn Red Wings who are very close to clinching the Viterra Division.

The Bombers did come from behind to beat Laronge in the shoot out last Saturday to give them 8 wins in their last 10.

Flin Flon did not make it easy as they were sluggish and didn't start skating til the third. Humboldt has given the Bombers problems  this season beating them 2 out of 3 meetings including a 4-3 win at the Whitney Forum September the 25th.

That was a big win for the Broncos who only have 1 other road win the entire season and are 2-20-1-0 on the road this year.

Flin Flon has only lost 1 home game since December and that was this past Friday against the Wings.

The Bombers continue to battle with Nipawin for second in the Sherwood and fourth overall, and come into tonight's game with 58 points, 1 less than the Hawks with a game in hand.

Flin Flon still feel they can catch Melfort and are 9 points behind the Mustangs with 3 games in hand.

Mike Reagan mentioned to me that he is concerned about tonight's game and points out when a team is really struggling on the road like the Broncos are, you know the law of averages is they are going to win some time and you don't want it to be you.

102.9 CFAR is the corporate sponsor for tonight and we are going to give you a chance to win an autographed game worn jersey just for coming to the rink.

We will have an on ice promotion in the second intermission, so save your tickets when you come through the door.

No broadcast tonight , we are back on the air tomorrow against Kindersley.
