After a 6 day break the Flin Flon Bombers return to action with a pair of games this weekend at the Whitney Forum.

 

First up Friday night is the much improved Weyburn Red Wings, who come to town with the best record in the Viterra Division at 9-3-1.  The Wings dropped a 5-2 decision in Laronge on Wednesday and are very stingy in goals against.

 

Weyburn sits third in the league in goals against, only giving up 31 in 13 games played. Melfort and Notre Dame are the only teams that have given up less.

 

This will be the first meeting of the season with the Wings taking 3 out of 4 against the Bombers last year. Jack Burgart is considered one of the best goalies in the league and is on an impressive run at 7-2-1 with a gaa of 2.28 and a sav% of .925. He sits second behind Notre Dame's Alexi Thibaudeau.

 

Melville comes to town Saturday last in the Viterra and overall at 2-10, although one of their wins came against the Bombers last Saturday. The Mills have scored the least amount of goals in the league at 32 and given up the second most at 61.

 

The Mills are starting to score more with 10 in their last 2 games.

 

The Bombers are trying to turn the corner, winning 2 out of their last 3 and their top line of Switzer, Kocur and Smith continue to lead the way offensively.

 

These 3 have 16 of the team's 35 goals and Kocur has really caught fire scoring 7 goals in his last 7 games to take over the team lead.

 

Flin Flon has also made a decision surrounding their goal- tending in trading 19 year old Connor Slip to the Winkler Flyers of the MJHL.

 

Mike Reagan said it was a tough trade with Connor being so good in the room and around the team, but wants to give him a chance to play.

 

Slipp should get a good chance with Winkler's no.1 goalie going down with an injury.
