Bad Starts Hurt Northstars Again

The Norman Northstars spotted the Pembina Valley Hawks a pair of 3-0 leads Saturday and Sunday, and added two more to the loss column  this past weekend.

On Saturday pembina Valley grabbed a quick 3-0 lead before Norman would tie it up at 3 after 2. Flin Flon's Willy Eikel scored his first of the season to tie it up with about 6 minutes remaining in the second.

The Hawks scored quickly in the third, and got an insurance goal later in the period to take the game 5-4.

Bryce Horning continued his great season, scoring twice to give him 21 on the season which has him sitting second overall in goals.

More of the same on Sunday , Pembina Valley jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in the second period, and the Northstars  once again were able to chip away and tie the game in the third period.

The game looked like it might be headed for overtime when the Hawks scored short handed late in the game to pull out a 4-3 win.

A couple heartbreak losses leave Norman with a record of: 3-25 and they will wrap up the 2014 part of their schedule this weekend, when they host Kenora this Saturday and Sunday.
