Bombers Get It Done

The Flin Flon Bombers wrapped up a  4 game in 5 night road trip with their first over time win of the season Saturday night.

Flin Flon is also the first team to hand Notre Dame a loss this season, beating the Hounds 2-1 in OT  right in Wilcox.

Notre Dame had reeled off 8 straight wins going into Saturday's game.

Parker Evans- Campbell was the hero scoring 2:16 into the extra frame. The other Bomber goal came from Alex Smith who picked up his 5th of the season at the 9:41 mark of the second period.

Notre Dame's lone  goal came from veteran Sam Aulie who scored his first of the season in the second period at the 16:22 mark.

Simon Hofley was back between the pipes after getting a rare night off the night before in Weyburn, where he  stopped 32 out of 33 shots for his 6th victory of the season and improved his overall save % to .926.

This is a big victory for so many reasons. The Bombers wrap up the road trip on a positive note getting 5 out of a possible 8 points. Flin Flon also gets the elusive first over time win of the season avenging their 4-3 shoot out loss to Weyburn the night before, and they also take over first place in the Sherwood Division.

Flin Flon's record stands at :6-2-2-2 (16 points), 2 up on Melfort who do have 2 games in hand.

The Bombers are the first team to score 50 goals this season, no other club in the league has managed to even hit 40. Battleford has 39.

Fliin Flon has 5 players in the league's top 10 scorers, led by Chris Rauckman who leads in both goals (12) and points (19).

Alex Smith has jumped into fourth spot with 14 points, Parker Evans- Campbell sits in 6th with 13, Austin Calladine has 12 points and is in 7th with defenseman Danys Chartrand coming in tenth spot with 11 points.

The Bombers will get a well deserved 5 day break before returning to the Whitney Forum this Friday to play the Weyburn Red Wings. No broadcast of this game.

Next broadcast on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com will be from Yorkton on Wednesday October the 29th.
