Bombers Back In Action

(4-1-1-1)  2nd in Sherwood   (4-1-2)   2nd in Kramer

After a 6 day break the Flin Flon Bombers are back on the ice Saturday when they host the Battleford Northstars.

It has been a very good week for the Bombers who received a national ranking for the first time this season, when the CJHL put out their rankings Monday and gave the Bombers the no.15 spot in the country.

Flin Flon also received good news that one of their top prospects Lance Yaremchuk had been re-assigned from the Prince George Cougars of the WHL.

This is huge news for the Bombers who already lead the league in goals with 31, and adding a dynamic player like Yaremchuk will only make Flin Flon deeper.

After losing their first game of the season to Kindersley, Battleford is unbeaten in regulation and are off to a better start than a lot of people thought. The Stars have a lot of holes to fill with both their goaltenders moving on and a good chunk of their blue line too.

Schmidt, Forbes and Charlson have all moved on due to graduation and trades. The Stars are still pretty skilled at forward with the likes of: Keller, Delainey and McMillen. You can't forget about Igor Leonenko either.

Kevin Hasselberg is regarded as one of the best coach's in the league and is always prepared with who ever he has in the lineup. He also recruits very well and I look forward to seeing how it all comes together for him this season.

Battleford has been one of the best team's in the league under his tenure and usually start the season slow due to the fact they play a lot of games on the road early in the season. They have started a lot better this year leading me to believe they will be a factor once again.

Saying that Flin Flon plays the Stars well, and it was their 2-0 victory at the Civic Centre late last year that really gave the young Bombers the confidence they needed to get on that great run to make the playoffs.

The Bombers have three players in the top ten in scoring led by league leader Chris Rauckman who has 13 points including 9 goals.

Parker Evans-Campbell sits in 5th spot with 10 points, and Austin Calladine is in 6th with 9 points. Calladine has only played five games.

After Saturday's game against Battleford Flin Flon will hit the road for 4 games in 5 nights with stops in Humboldt Tuesday, Estevan Wednesday, Weyburn Friday and Notre Dame Saturday.

Don't forget Saturday's game can be heard on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com with the Murray GM Coach's Show at 7:15 and drop of the puck at 7:30.
