Bombers Split Weekend Homestand

The Flin Flon Bombers had an eventful weekend at the Whitney Forum hosting the Notre Dames Hounds  on Friday and the La Ronge Ice wolves Saturday. Tyson Empey and Evan Akkerman scored for the Bombers, but down late in the 3rd, it was Chris Rauckman notching his 8th of the year to force overtime. Andrew Cummings of the Hounds took advantage of a Simon Hofley rebound to score the game winner and maintain Notre Dame’s undefeated record.

ND 4-FF 3 (OT)

Not as much of a nail bitter on Saturday as the Bombers exploded for an offensive onslaught versus La Ronge. The power play was clicking as the Bombers took advantage of an almost constant parade to the penalty box going 6/12 with the man advantage and scoring a short handed goat to boot.  It was a breakout game for Alex Smith who scored on a shorthanded breakaway, and contributed with three assists. Danys Chantrand also had three helpers. Chris Rauckman notched his ninth goal of the season. Seamus Maguire, Michael Knaub, Dean Allison and Parker Evans-Campbell scored the remainder of the goals on a night where pretty much everthing went the Bombers way.
