National Indigenous People’s Day was a big success this past Wednesday at Rotary Park. The Friendship Center’s Jo-Anne Pelletier says it was a complete community effort.

" Well National Indigenous People's Day was very successfull, the day was amazing with all the hard work from everyone paid off. I'm proud of the performers  who came out and kept everyone entertained. I'm thankful for all the help from the Friendship Centre staff who guided me along. A huge thank you to all the volunteers, we couldn't of done it without them so thank you all."

Pelletier also wanted to thank the Flin Flon Lion’s Club for manning the barbecue, the business’s for all the donations and to all the people who attended the event. Congratulations to Kristin Imrie who won the barbecue.

The other big door prize which was a cedar bench and gift certificate from McMunn and Yates was not claimed. It is a red ticket and was numbered 703658. If you have this ticket you can claim at the Friendship Centre.

The first installment of We Love Flin Flon took place last night at Rotary Park put on by the Salvation Army and the Flin Flon Ministerial Society. It was a free community barbecue which included music  and lots of events for the kids.

Mark Burford from the Salvation Army says last night’s event was well attended.

" We had a great turn out last night , we had lots of people and great food along with   music and fellowship. We are really looking forward to the other two events that we have scheduled in July and August. We have Thursday July 20th, same time and same place and we have Thursday  August the 17th also same time and place."

The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers for their next two events to barbecue, serve food and help organize kid’s games. If you are interested you can call Mark at 431-746-5820.
