The Nipawin Hawks are pleased to announce the re-signing of Head Coach and General Manager Tad Kozun to a two-year contract.
Kozun who grew up in the community and played for the Hawks has strong ties to the organization both on and off the ice. He suited up for the Hawks during the 2011 to the 2014 seasons before advancing to the NCAA with the University of Alaska Anchorage. Following his collegiate career, Kozun went on to play professionally in the ECHL with the Carolina Stingrays, Kansas City Mavericks, and Orlando Solar Bears.
Kozun joined the Hawks coaching staff in the 2021–22 season as an assistant coach before stepping into the role of interim Head Coach and General Manager later that year. He has led the team in that capacity ever since, helping guide the program forward both on and off the ice.
Tad guided the Hawks to a Fourth overall finish with a 35-19-1-1 record and got them to the playoffs for the first time in three seasons, losing to the Weyburn Red Wings in 6 games in the SJHL Quarter Finals.
Nipawin have the makings of being a very strong team again next season and Kozun is a big part of that in helping build a very competitive program.
