Joey Lies scored his second career hat-trick as the Flin Flon Bombers went into the Cage in Nipawin last night and knocked off the Hawks 7 to 4.
It was a wild first period with the Hawks scoring a couple of quick goals courtesy of Braeden Jockims and Ashton Tait before the game was even 7 minutes old.
That would wake the Bombers up, as they would storm back with four goals including a pair from Lies, Hudson Brehaut and Reid Arberry added his 18th.
Nipawin got two more goals from Eric Hoiness and Finley Radloff, to make the score 4-4 after one.
The Bombers were able to shut the Hawks down the rest of the way and scored the next three, with a pair of goals coming from Colin Miller who now has 19 goals on the season.
Joey Lies converted the hatty late in the third period to give him a team leading 21 goals on the season, which is a career high.
The Bomber powerplay was cooking and was a perfect 3 for 3. Nipawin ended up going 0 for 3 and that was one of the biggest differences in the game.
Charlie Tritt got the start for Flin Flon and he gave up 4 goals on 32 shots, while the Bombers were able to get to the Hawks standout netminder Gage Roberts 7 times on 32 shots.
It was a great start to the road trip as the Bombers have now reeled off 11 straight wins and improve to a league best 29-9-0-1 and now lead the second place Battleford Stars by 4 points, who had their ten game win streak snapped last night by Melfort.
Flin Flon will look to carry the momentum into Weyburn tonight in a rematch of this past Spring's SJHL Semi Final where the Wings eliminated the Bombers in 6 games. Weyburn always plays the Bombers tough, so tonight will be a big challenge.
Puck drop at the Whitecap Resources Centre is 7pm.
