After a slow start yesterday afternoon, the Flin Flon Bombers found their stride and powered to another pre-season win at the Whitney Forum, beating the Laronge Ice Wolves 10 to 4.
Flin Flon faced Laronge for the second time in the pre-season and spotted the Wolves two quick goals.
Laronge scored a couple of fluky goals, six minutes into the opening period courtesy of David Vitt and Grayden Perozni and seemed to have the Bombers back on their heels.
Flin Flon shook that off and got on track courtesy of Nathan Lalumiere who ended up scoring four goals to go along with one assist for a 5 point game and Pierce Yakimchuk had a game for the ages.
Yakimchuk, who looked very confident at training camp is having a very impressive pre-season that included a natural hat-trick in the second period and he looks very determined and ready for his 20 year old season.
Ryder Mucha continues to be impressive with two goals yesterday to give him 8 in the last three games. The other Bomber goal came from new comer Xavier Fachon.
20 year old local product Joey Lies picked up 3 assists and has 6 points in the last two games.
The Bombers have picked up 19 year old goaltender Brayden Burrows who comes out of BC and he made his debut yesterday stopping 16 out of 20 shots.
Laronge had two goalies play yesterday with Riley Zezel and Ethan Edwards splitting the crease and making 33 saves on 43 shots.
The Bombers improve to 4-0 in the pre season and Head Coach and GM, Mike Reagan told us what he wants to see from his club in their final 3 pre-season games. " Just grow, gotta grow, have to continue to get better. The one thing we have done in this pre-season that we haven't done as much as in the past, we are going over systems in practise. Every day we have practise, which is every second day, we are focussing in on an area like d-zone coverage, our forecheck and some other areas we want to focus on. I am hopeful we can get Stinton and Leo in the lineup in Swan River on Tuesday , and then hopefully a few more guys in the lineup on the weekend to see where we are at."
Flin Flon will play their final three pre-season games this week in Swan River Tuesday, host Swan River on Thursday and play the Northern Manitoba Blizzard to wrap up the pre-season on Friday at the Whitney Forum.
You can catch Friday's game on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.
