The 2013 Junior Northstars participated in the 3rd annual Northern Little Chiefs  Championship  this past weekend in Thompson  and the team would be crowned champions.

 

The bracket style tournament saw the Northstars win their first game of the event on Friday but would lose later that evening to the host Little Chiefs. This placed them into the loser side of the bracket where they would need to win all remaining games to advance to the finals.

 

The team would win all three games on Saturday setting up a rematch with the Little Chiefs Sunday night. It was a close contest wIth  the Northstars picking up the 4 to 3 win  to claim the championship. Jake Cameron (Thompson) was named the top forward of the tournament and Brody Cooper (Flin Flon) was named tournament MVP.

 

Congratulations to all the coach's and players on a great effort in Thompson.

 

The Northstars will now have two weeks off before heading to Winnipeg for the 2nd annual Blades of Steel Championship.
