Straile Competes In Battle Of The Prairies

Carson Straile of the Creighton Kodiaks, played this past weekend in the 2nd Annual Battle of The Prairies Tackle Football Tournament in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan as a part of The Sask Selects Football team.

 

The Tournament consisted of The Alberta Selects, Manitoba Selects, Golden Bear Selects (Alberta), and the Sask Selects all competing in front of USport coaches, CJFL coaches, and NCAA Division 1 and 2 coaches. 

 

The games were played at Yara Centre in Moose Jaw, Sask. The tournament features five different divisions: U11, U13, U14, U15, and Varsity. Straile and the Selects won the Varsity Division.

 

The first game they played was on Friday, January 27th against the Golden Bears Selects 1 and the Sask Selects won 18-0.

 

The second game on Saturday, January 28th was against the Golden Bears Selects 2. It was a close fought game but Straile and the Sask Selects were able to pull out the win 16-12.

 

Straile and The Sask Selects then made it to the Championship game on Sunday, January 29th. They played the Alberta Selects and ended up winning the game and the championship with a big 28-0 victory.

 

Even though having a lack of touches, Straile still made his presence known on the field with an important role on the teams blocking scheme, helping them secure the victory. Straile was the only player in the tournament to represent the communities of Flin Flon and Creighton.
