Bombers Ready For 2023

The Christmas break has come and gone and the Flin Flon Bombers will play their first game of 2023 tonight in Laronge.

The Bombers enter play tonight just 2 points back of the Wolves for first in the division and second overall. Flin Flon does have 4 games in hand.

Flin Flon did themselves a big favour sweeping the home and home with Laronge to end 2022,  including that thrilling 3 to 2 shootout win back on December the 18th.

It took 10 rounds before Corey King finally ended it with a beautiful snap shot off the post and in.

Not only are the Bombers battling Laronge for the division lead, but are battling with a number of teams for second overall.

Humboldt and Estevan are just 2 points back of the Bombers with Melfort  3 points behind,  so every game will have some importance in the standings and you can't take a night off.

The Bombers were starting to play some good hockey going into the Christmas break, reeling off three straight wins.

Flin Flon leads the season series with the Wolves 2-0-0-1 and a win tonight could really go a long way in the head to head match-ups and winning the season series.

Cole Duperreault continues to lead the way offensively and was chosen the Bombers player of the month for December.

Duperreault led the way with 7 points in 5 games including 4 goals and sits fourth overall in SJHL scoring with 42 points and second overall in goals with 23.

Harmon Laser Hume seems to have found his game again,  and was razor sharp in the two wins against Laronge just before Christmas. Laser Hume only gave up 3 goals in the two games on 55 shots and will need to be good again tonight.

Dawson Smith is expected to get the start for Laronge and is one of the best netminders in the entire league with a GAA of 2.28 and a save % of .936.

Smith was incredible in their last meeting December the 18th and showed the Bombers why he is regarded as one of the best goalies in the SJHL.

No matter what go's down,  you will have the best seat in the house  with  Creighton Furniture Bomber Hockey on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com and our first broadcast of the new year.

We hit the air waves with the Great North GM Coach's Show at 7:10 and drop of the puck at 7:30.

We will also continue with our Bomber Legend Series and will be joined by former Bomber and NHL'R Ray Neaufeld in the second intermission.

The Bombers return home to face the Humboldt Broncos in a pair of games on Friday and Saturday. We will broadcast Saturday's game.
