It wasn't the result or the effort the Flin Flon Bombers were looking for in Nipawin on Saturday night.

 

The Bombers who worked so hard for their 2 to 0 win  against Melfort on Friday were never really in Saturday's game.

 

Flin Flon definately had bus legs and didn't generate much for offensive chances in the first period and were quite fortunate it was scoreless after one.

 

The second was a different story as the Hawks would get rewarded with four straight goals from Joel Mabin, Bryden Kiesman and two from Braxton Buchberger.

 

The Bombers did get a little momentum late in the frame when Cole Duperreault scored on the power play with just 26 seconds to go.

 

Duperreault found the back of the net again early in the third and it looked like the Bombers might be able to mount the comeback.

 

The offense would sputter the rest of the way and Maguire Ratzlaff would score an empty netter to give Nipawin the 5 to 2 win.

 

The Hawks were able to avenge their 7 to 4 loss against Laronge from Friday and were also able to beat the Bombers at the Cage.

 

Flin Flon won all 4 meetinmgs in Nipawin last year.

 

Harmon Laser- Hume faced his former team and gave up 4 goals on 23 shots after recording a shut out a night earlier.

 

New comer Reid Lalonde out of Edmonton picked up the win with 25 saves.

 

After opening weekend all 4 teams in the Sherwood Division sit at 1-1. The Bombers will get a few dayts off before welcoming Laronge to the Whitney Forum on Friday.

 

On a side note, the Bombers did trade local favorite Jordan Pfoh to Dryden of the SIJHL just before Saturday's game.

 

I just wanted to say that Jordan was the ultimate team guy who never complained about his ice time and was always the first to jump out and congratulate his team mates after a win.

 

He is the example of what a good team-mate should be. Good luck to Jordan in Dryden and I hope he has an excellent 20 year old season. He really deserves it.
