Bombers Face Off With The Wings

After a 5 day break the Flin Flon Bombers are back on the ice when they face the Weyburn Red Wings at the Whitney Forum Friday night.

The Bombers are tied with the Mustangs for first place in the sherwood Division with 16 points, and both teams have played 12 games.

Weyburn sits fourth in the Viterra Division with 9 points, but are having a good road trip so far. The Wings scored 4 goals in the third period in Laronge on Wednesday night to force over time,  and beat the Hawks to start the trip 5-2 on Tuesday.

This will be the second meeting of the season between the two clubs, with Weyburn pulling out a 4-3 shoot out win on Friday October the 17th.  Flin Flon let this one slip away blowing a 3-1 lead in the third period.

Mike Reagan called this the most frustrating loss of the season for his team to this point, so look for the Bombers to come out very hard Friday.

The Wings are led by 19 year old goaltender Jack Bugart fresh off a 53 save performance against Nipawin. Burgart has been in the pipes for all of Weyburn's wins and has a decent save % at .927.

There is a big differance between these two teams offensively with the Bombers leading the league in goals with 50. Weyburn has scored 33 times and sit 5th overall.

The Bombers have 5 players in the top 20 league scoring, led by Chris Rauckman who sits in first spot with 19 points including 12 goals. Weyburn has only one player in the top 20, Braden Mellon who is in 20th spot with 10 points.

Congratulations to Alex Smith who was awarded the Canalta Player Of The Week for the second time this season for picking up 7 points last week. 6 came in one game against Estevan.

Young blue liner Dustin Perillat was chosen the SJHL Rookie Of The Week. Perillat had 3 points including 2 goals for the Bombers last weekend and gets better every game he plays and is a rising star in this league. Perillat is still midget age at 17 and has many productive years ahead of him.

Don't forget to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Lord's Bounty Food Bank this Friday. Northland Ford has teamed up with Hapnot Collegiate as part of the International Free The Children Campaign.

There will be a Ford F-150 outside the main entrance, where they will be trying to fill up the box.

No broadcast of this game, we are back on the air October the 29th and 30th from Yorkton and Melfort.

We are on the air both nights with the Murray GM Coach's Show 8:15 MB time.
