Bombers Make Plenty Of Deals

The Flin Flon Bombers were very active on yesterday's SJHL trade deadline.

The Bombers said goodbye to some significant players, who have made an impact on both the team and community.

Here are the trades:

Devin Buffalo to Drumheller of the AJHL for future considerations.

Cam Blair to the Battleford Northstars for 94 forward Austin Evans and future considerations. Evans numbers in Battleford this season. ( 6 goals, 18 assists in 36 games played.) He will be in the Bomber lineup tonight against Laronge.

Sam Williams was also dealt to Melville for future considerations

It was obvious to me that Mike Reagan is thinking about the future, and has set this club up very good for the next couple of seasons.

I caught up with Mike last night after all the deals went down, and here is what he had to say about the deals he completed last night.

" This was the most active trade deadline I have been part of for the opposite reasons, usually we are in the market for adding, this year we were sellers." " We gave up some very good players and we are expecting very good return on them."

" We wouldn't of made the deals if we didn't think this was going to help us go forward." "It has been a very tough year, where a lot of things have added up and have pointed into the direction of building for next year."

" Saying that , we believe we have a pretty solid lineup of young guys that are going to get a chance to prove themselves including goalie Simon Hofley." " Simon has showed us that he can win big hockey games, and this is a great oppurtunity for him to show us that he can be a number one in the future." " We have a lot of young 18 year olds who need to prove to us that they are guys that we want in this organization moving forward."

Hofley will start tonight and will be backed up by Connor Ingram who plays with the PA Mintos in the Saskatchewan Midget AAA League. Casey Parker who spent time with both Battleford and Estevan will be the backup for the remainder of the season.

The new look Bombers get set to host Laronge tonight, as these two team continue to battle it out for playoff positioning in the Sherwood Division. The Bombers lead Laronge by two points for second place, and both teams have played 36 games.

Flin Flon has won both meetings this season. They will meet three more times after tonight.

Laronge was also very busy on trade deadline day, including a deal that has brought Wilson Dumais back to the Ice Wolves from OCN of the MJHL.

The Ice Wolves get Dumais for 94 forward Anthony Agner Bouchard.

Hope to see a great crowd tonight, as the Bombers will be looking for a win to get back into first place with Nipawin who lost to Melville last night 4-1.

Don't forget to bring your radios, for all the action on 102.9 CFAR tonight and finflononline.com, with the Murray GM Coach's show starting at 7:15.
