The Flin Flon Bombers played their hearts out and came up a little short falling 2-1 to the Broncos in OT and now trail the best of 7 North Final 3-1.
It looked like the Bombers might pull it out when they scored on the power play :34 into the third period. Jason Wark scored his 4th of the playoffs to break the scoreless tie.
I thought that might hold up, but the Broncos got a phantom call. They capitalized on their power play chance to tie the game at 10:45 with Joey Davies 10th of the postseason.
Both goalies were pretty much lights out as we saw overtime for the second time in the series. Buffalo and Hrynkiw made huge saves all night and it looked like it might take a long time to decide it.
Cody Pongracz had other ideas. He took a nice pass from Joey Davies and fired a wrist shot to beat Devin Buffalo low glove side to stun the Whitney Forum faithful and give the Broncos their second win in ot in this series.
The Bombers now have their work cut out for them trailing 3-1 and needing a win Friday at the Elgar Peterson Arena to try and force game 6 back at the Whitney Sunday.
If the Bombers can rally on Friday I have a feeling that we may see at least 1500 fans in Flin Flon for Sunday. Lots of students that attend college will be back in town for the Easter break and would love to take in a game.
The crowds have been outstanding for the Bombers the entire playoffs with only 1 crowd under 1000 so far.
This has definately been an entertaining series with 3 of the 4 games decided by 1 goal. Buffalo continues to give the Bombers a chance to win every game and has a save pct. of. 936 in the playoffs.
The Bombers could easily be up 3-1 in this series themselves, and are still very much alive.
If you can't make it to Humboldt, we will have game 5 right here on CFAR 590 and flinflononline.com starting with the Murray GM Coach's Show at 8:15 and of course play by play at 8:30.
This has been a fun playoff run, let's hope it continues.
Keep supporting this team, it always makes a differance.
