Bring On The Broncos

In front of 1326 fans this past Saturday the Flin Flon Bombers blanked the Nipawin Hawks 4-0 and wrapped up the North Semi-Final 4-2.

The Whitney Forum was once again an electric atmosphere which absolutely erupted every time there was a big hit and a Bomber goal.

A big thanks to all the Nipawin Hawk fans who made the way to the Forum and cheered on their team to the very end.

Andy Blanke was sensational in this series scoring 3 times including 2 in game 6. He had the game winner 9:06 into the first period. Not only did Blanke contibute on the score sheet but he was very physical and agitated the Hawks all series long. He definately got into their heads.

Jason Wark ended up leading the team in points with 7 and he was also very physical and stepped up his play for the series win.

Devin Buffalo seemed to get more comfortable and steadier as the series moved on stopping all 41 Hawk shots in game 6 to pick up the shutout.

The Bombers doubled the Hawks in goals 29-15 and put up 7 goals twice in games 3 and 5 chasing Davis Jones.

Jones did the best he could but the Hawks could not prevent Flin Flon from getting to the scoring lanes and converting on the majority of their good chances.

Flin Flon was mentally tougher and did not allow the Hawks to get them off their game by taking part in their thuggery.

The Bombers certainly got more offensive contributions from their depth players in this series as well as only Hall and Empey failed to pick up points in this series.

Nipawin never did pick up a powerplay goal and ended up finishing 0 for 24. Flin Flon went 3 for 32 and also picked up a short handed goal.

Goal scorers for Flin Flon in game 6 were: Blanke with a pair his second and third. Balaski scored his first and Wark added his third.

The Bombers prepare for the Humboldt Broncos who finished first overall and are the defending champs.

The 2 teams split the 6 games 3-3 and Flin Flon did manage to beat the Broncos in Humboldt, which not a lot of teams could do.

No official announcement yet but the series is expected to start in Humboldt on Friday.

Once I know for sure I will post on this blog.

Here is Head Coach and GM Mike Reagan with his comments from CFAR'S Post Game Show from Saturday.
