After splitting the first 2 games in Nipawin, game 3 of the Northern semi final is back at the Whitney tonight.
The Bombers took the opener 4-3 with the Hawks coming back to win the next night 5-4 in OT.
In all the years I have been broadcasting, I have never felt electricity and goosebumps like I felt Friday and Saturday night. The Cage was jumping with about 200 Bomber fans making their precence felt.
Hawk fans were doing their part with the loudest and longest horn I have ever heard. Every time they blow it you feel like your head is going to explode!!!!
The top Bomber point getters so far are Brett Penner who is leading the way with 3 goals to lead both teams so far in this series. Brock Hounsell and Josh Roach have both scored 2 goals.
Carter Berg leads the way for the Hawks with 4 points all assists. Garret Lockeridge and Ben Johnstone both have 3 points.
After starting slow on Friday the Bombers have really picked it up and have been able to do something that not a lot of people thought were possible and that is beat Davis Jones 8 times in 2 games.
Even though the Bombers dropped Saturday's game in OT, Mike Reagan feels his team is in good shape after stealing home ice advantage which was their goal heading into game's 1 and 2.
Flin Flon brought their 200 plus fans some great passionite hockey Friday and Saturday and you know it will be no different at the Whitney tonight and tomorrow. I thought when Josh Roach scored with 35 seconds left in regulation that the Bombers were poised to steal both games at the Cage. Flin Flon dominated the beginning of OT getting 3 excellent chances to win it right off the hop but couldn't beat Jones. The Hawks would capitalize on their second chance and Tad Kozan would score his first of the series at 3:54 of OT sending the Hawks to Flin Flon with the series tied at 1-1.
It was a game Nipawin had to have and did not want to come to Flin Flon down 2. By the way playoff tickets are available at the Bomber office 12-5 today. We are back on the air tonight with the Murray GM Coach's Show at 7:15 and play by play at 7:30 as Raphael Saray will make his triumphent return to the broadcast team.
I so look forward to the rest of the series and so far this series is really living up to all the hype.
I believe the keys for Flin Flon will be getting to Jones early, and getting their powerplay going. Flin Flon had the second best PP in the league at 21% and have yet to score on the man advantage so far in the series. Both teams are a combined 0 for 15.
See you tonight and don't forget to bring your radios.
