Update On Laronge Hit And Run

La Ronge RCMP have an update on a hit and run that happened a couple of days ago.

 

Further investigation determined the suspect vehicle, which had been reported as stolen to La Ronge RCMP on September 29, struck another vehicle after the collision involving the pedestrian. One of the occupants of the vehicle reported non-life-threatening injuries to police.

 

On September 30th  the pedestrian was declared deceased in hospital. He has been identified as a 56-year-old male from La Ronge.

 

As a result of continued investigation, 21-year-old James Misponas from the La Ronge District is charged with:

 

- one count, operation of a vehicle with blood alcohol concentration equal to or exceeding 80 mg causing death.

- one count, dangerous operation of a vehicle  causing death

- two counts, operation of a vehicle while impaired causing bodily harm,

- two counts, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm, - two counts, failure to stop of the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.

- two counts, failure to stop of the scene of an accident causing death- one count, possession of stolen property over $5,000.

- one count, possession of stolen property under $5,000 .

He appeared in La Ronge Provincial Court on October 2nd
