Flin Flon Mayor George Fontaine and Councillor Mike Slip recently attended an  Association Of Manitoba Municipalities meeting in Brandon . Councillor Slip was a guest on the CFAR City Beat Program and mentioned they were able to get some useful information to pass on to our community.

"We learned a lot as we were able to meet with the mayors of Winnipeg, Brandon, Steinbach and lots of places. Mayor Fontaine was able to go on a tour with the mayor of Brandon and got a chance to see what Brandon is doing to solve some of the issue they are facing with their downtown core. Mayor Fontaine was really taken on what he saw with what Brandon is doing to help with that situation and connected the people running the program. The City will connect with them and hope to bring the program to Flin Flon."

Slipp went on to say that they will be looking for the new provincial government to invest in core infrastructure, human infrastructure to help recruit health professionals  as well as public safety for policing and community safety plans.

The city will be sending some representatives to Brandon for the next AMM in November which will include all 137 municipalities in Manitoba.
