On October 1, 2023 at approximately 11:15 p.m., Deschambault Lake RCMP received a report of an injured person on a street in Deschambault Lake.

 

Officers immediately responded and located a deceased male youth. He has been identified as a 17-year-old from Deschambault Lake. His family has been notified and victim services made available to them.

 

As a result of initial investigation, Deschambault Lake RCMP attended a residence in the community. A female youth was arrested in relation to the death of the 17-year-old male. An adult male was also arrested on warrants from Deschambault Lake for charges including assault with a weapon.

 

The adult male was suffering from injuries from a separate assault, which is now under investigation by the Deschambault Lake RCMP, and was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature.

 

Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of the investigation into the 17-year-old’s death.

 

As a result, the female youth, who can’t be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with one count of second degree murder.

 

She is scheduled to appear in court in Deschambault Lake on October 4, 2023.

 

Major Crimes continues to investigate and additional charges are pending.
