On August 10, 2023, at approximately 3:25 pm, Thompson RCMP received a report of a male kicking in a door to a residence on Brandon Crescent in Thompson. Officers responded immediately and located the residence fully engulfed in flames. The 34-year-old male reported to have been breaking into the residence was located by police exiting the yard. He was taken into custody.

As the residence was a townhouse, officers began evacuating the neighbouring residences and making sure nobody was still inside the burning structure.

The local fire department attended to extinguish the fire. Damage was limited to two of the townhomes.

The fire is considered suspicious. The Office of the Fire Commissioner is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
