New Case Numbers Continue to Drop in Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

Manitoba public health reported 728 laboratory confirmed cases of COVID-19 the week of May 8th to 14th a decrease from 902 the previous week. The total number of reported cases now stands at 143,603.  Of the new cases 399 were in the Winnipeg region with 90 reported in the Northern health region up from 88 the previous week.  Hospital admissions were 149 down from 183 the previous week of which 16 were ICU admissions. The volume of lab tests decreased to an average 766 people per day compared to 832 the previous week and the positivity rate was 18.5 percent an increase from 17.6 percent the previous week.

             

Saskatchewan health reported 465 new cases were confirmed for the week of May 8th to 14th down from 710 the previous week.  Of that total nine were in Far Northeast up from seven the previous week.  As of May 18th 270 people were in hospital down from 321the previous week of which 14 were ICU cases down two from the previous week.  6908 laboratory tests were performed with less than one in 15 positive or 6.5 percent down from 7.6 the previous week.
