First and Second Doses of Vaccine Continue to be Encouraged in Manitoba.

Manitoba public health reported 264 net new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 11.5 percent.  They also reported six new deaths with three each in the Southern and Winnipeg health regions.  Of the new cases 198 were in Winnipeg and 28 in Southern health with lower numbers in other regions including 21 in Northern health region. There are 14 active cases in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district.

             

Medical Lead for the Vaccine Implementation Task Force Dr. Joss Reimer says vaccines continue to arrive in the province. She stated to those who still have to make their first dose appointment it is not too late.  She encourages as well everyone who is eligible for a second dose to book as soon as you are eligible adding the success of the vaccine campaign hinges on all of us.

             

Eligibility for second doses of vaccine has been expanded to include individuals who received their first dose on or before April 20th.  Additionally all Indigenous and individuals with specific health conditions are also eligible to book their second dose as long as they meet the minimum time interval between doses.
