Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 are Approaching 30 Thousand in Manitoba While a Variant Has Been Found in Saskatoon.

Manitoba public health reported 110 new cases of COVID-19 this afternoon bringing the five day test positivity rate to 6.7 percent.  They also reported two additional deaths both in the Winnipeg region.  Of the new cases 39 are in the Northern health region, 33 in Interlake Eastern and 26 in Winnipeg with single digits in the other regions.  Of the total 29,968 reported cases 3340 are active, 25,791 individuals have recovered and 264 are in hospital with 36 in intensive care.  The number of active cases in the Flin Flon, Snow Lake, Cranberry Portage, Sherridon district is now listed as four.

             

Meanwhile Saskatchewan health reported 250 new cases bringing the seven day average of daily new cases to 234 along with seven additional deaths.  They also report a third case of the UK.COVID-19 variant being a person who travelled to South East Asia.  There’s no report of community transmission taking place.  Of the new cases 49 are in Saskatoon, 44 in Regina, 37 in Far North East and 24 in North West with lower numbers in other zones.  Of the total 24,680 reported cases 2265 are considered active, 22,086 individuals have recovered and 216 are in hospital with 30 in intensive care.
