In a press release, Niki Ashton stated fur tables in Thompson bring buyers and fur harvesters together every December for the sale of furs, and that these tables are vital for trappers across Manitoba and part of northern Saskatchewan.
Ashton says Manitoba Trappers Association of Northwestern Manitoba is worried about the prices of fur and their ability to market their products due to COVID-19.
She goes on to explain that since other industries received financial aid during the pandemic, the fur industry should also be eligible for assistance.
