You Are Invited to Pause to Remember Sunday.

The Women’s Resource Center is holding its annual candle light vigil Sunday afternoon to mark the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The Center’s Colleen Arnold says the vigil will be held at the Montreal Canadians Alumni game Sunday afternoon. She says the vigil is in memory of the 14 young women who were tragically killed in the Montreal massacre on December 6th 28 years ago.  She explains because the Montreal hockey game is here and it’s close to December 6th they will be having a moment of silence at the game.  Players will be holding candles and they ask everyone to help them deliver the message to our community that we will stand united to end violence against women and girls.  She says they also ask you to take a moment in December 6th to remember these women and reflect on the phenomenon of violence against women in our society.

Arnold adds information will be included in the game program and they will be handing out rose buttons at the game for people to wear to show their support.
