The Proposed Dog Park Will Not Be Located on Riverside.

At last night’s Flin Flon City Council meeting Mayor Cal Huntley announced that after much discussion Council has decided not to proceed with a dog park in the ball diamond on Riverside Drive.  He says they were looking for a fiscally responsible solution in an area which wouldn’t cause a lot of issues. He says there were a lot of issues about this area and they have taken the concerns of the residents in the neighborhood seriously and will not proceed.  He says they will continue to look at the need for a dog park.

Council also gave final reading to a bylaw to regulate the use of fire pits in the community.  The bylaw was brought in to ensure that fire pits are built and used safely meeting certain requirements and must be inspected by the Fire Chief before use.  Mayor Huntley says they believe people in the community want to use fire pits and Council wants to make sure it’s done safely with a proper procedure in place.  People building fire pits must make application and pay a 50 dollar fee.  The fine for a first offence in not having a permit is five hundred dollars.
