Mayor Cal Huntley reported at Tuesday night’s meeting he attended a recent northern Council meeting in Cranberry Portage.  He said there were some 50 participants from across the north for a good mix of councils and organizations. He said they talked about their communities, some of the challenges they face and some of the great things taking place.

Mayor Huntley added following that meeting they held another of their Regional Economic Development meetings involving Flin Flon, Creighton and Denare Beach.  He said they are looking at ways our communities can co-operate with each other and looking at the sharing of services and opportunities where they can work together.

Mayor Huntley also reported they have had discussions with Canada Post on the closing of the Channing Post Office as of tomorow.  He said they have discussed installing community mail boxes and since they are part of the Flin Flon community providing them with a R8A postal code making their mail service more efficient.  Canada Post has advised Channing residents they can pick up their mail at the Flin Flon Post Office starting Monday until the best options for continuing service in Channing can be considered.
