Volunteers Were Honored at an Annual Meeting.

At the Flin Flon Creighton and Area SPCA annual meeting Tuesday night the organization honored three volunteers.  Jason Somers and Jilli Porter Baines received the Shelter Volunteer of the Year Awards and Tijana Clarke the Community Volunteer of the Year Award.

President Erica Husberg thanked the local businesses, community members and volunteers who keep the shelter running.  She reported last year animals brought in to their care totaled 147.  They had 55 cats and 57 dogs adopted and currently have 13 dogs and 16 cats in their care.  Husberg says one highlight last year was the third anniversary celebration of the Shelter opening at which they held the official opening of their Dog Park.  She says they are now applying for grants to add a much needed isolation room to the Shelter where they can keep animals quarantined until they get a clean bill of health.

Treasurer Kelsey Horrocks reported overall it appears they operated with a loss for the year of 28 thousand dollars due to almost 30 thousand dollars in vet expenses, the fencing project, lower donations and a decrease in some fund raising revenue.
