You Can Learn More About a Northern Pioneer.

The Aurora Borealis Arts Council is presenting the story of Kate Rice every Saturday at the Snow Lake Motor Inn.  The Inn’s Gerard Lamontagne says it’s about a pioneer who came to northern Manitoba in 1913.  He explains it’s a story of Kate Rice’s life in northern Manitoba as a prospector, trapper, northern survivor basically because back then times were tough and you had to learn now to live off the land.  He says she devoted much of her adult life to discovering minerals in the Snow Lake and Thompson areas.

Lamontagne adds the play was written and produced locally adapted out of the Kate Rice book.  It is performed every Saturday over the summer at 1 o’clock at the Snow Lake Motor Inn.
