Bombers Take Down Mustangs 4 To 2

The Flin Flon powerplay remained on fire last night as they scored three with the extra man and beat the Melfort Mustangs 4 to 2.

Flin Flon built up a 3 to 0 lead on powerplay goals from Carter Andersen his 14th, Koen Senft his 5th and Justin Lies his 20th.

It looked like the Bombers were going to be able to take it to cruise control but took a 5 minute major penalty and the Mustangs took advantage with a couple powerplay goals of their own.

Logan Belton and Chase Friedt Mohr both found the back of the net in just under a minute span to close out the second period.

Harmon Laser Hume held the fort and ended up with 28 saves for his league leading 15th win of the year. Captain Justin Lies added his second of the night and league leading 21st into the empty net to seel it.

Mustang goalie James Venne was at his usual best and kept his team in the game making 51 saves in a losing cause.

The Bombers improve to a league best 21-1-2 and are also 11-1-1 at the Whitney Forum. Melfort will fall to 15-9-2 but gave it a pretty good effort last night without two of their top scorers in Ryan Duguay and Zac Somers.

Flin Flon will play two more games at home this weekend as they welcome Yorkton to town on Friday and Humboldt on Saturday. We will broadcast Saturday's game on 102.9 CFAR and flinflononline.com.
